The U Visa was created to protect immigrant victims of serious crimes who have suffered abuse and are willing to assist law enforcement in the investigation or prosecution of criminal activity. At Yesildal Law, we guide you through every step of this sensitive process with care and confidentiality.
Who Qualifies for a U Visa?
To qualify, you must have been a victim of a qualifying crime such as domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, or robbery. You must have suffered substantial physical or mental abuse and be willing to cooperate with law enforcement in the investigation or prosecution of the crime.
The Certification & Application Process
A key step in the U Visa process is obtaining a certification from a law enforcement agency confirming your cooperation. Our attorneys work closely with you to secure this certification and prepare a thorough application package for USCIS
Benefits & Path to a Green Card
U Visa holders receive legal status for up to four years and are eligible for work authorization. After three years of continuous presence in the U.S., U Visa holders may apply for lawful permanent residence. Qualifying family members may also be eligible for derivative status.
